A Christian Community in the Roman Catholic Christian Tradition
Habitat for Humanity
Arundel Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to helping families living in substandard housing throughout Anne Arundel County. It is a volunteer, non-profit organization which receives no government funding. Successes result from the team efforts of volunteers, contributors, supporters, and families. The Habitat program is built around the concept of giving "a hand up" not "a hand out." The families that meet all of the selection criteria and complete the selection process put both money and work into a Habitat house. Each family pays a mortgage on their Habitat home. They also put "sweat equity" (work time) into their own or another Habitat home. The pride and responsibility of home ownership encourages Habitat home owners to take pride in their neighborhood and community.
Arundel Habitat for Humanity currently needs volunteers to help with construction and is also in need of volunteer crew leaders. Volunteer crew leaders are committed volunteers of varying skill levels who accept responsibility, under the direction of the Habitat staff, for leading a group of 1-6 volunteers at the work site. Crew leaders are scheduled to work 1-3 Wednesdays or Saturdays per month. Please call 410-384-9212 for more information about this ministry.
