"If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat"
Your “boat” is whatever represents safety and security to you apart from God himself. Your boat is whatever keeps you so comfortable that you don’t want to give it up even when you are being tossed out of it by the many storms we experience in life.
For some, it may be our career. Perhaps we have been down-sized and are unemployed. Or maybe we are working in an area that drains the very life-energy out of us. For some, it might be relationships. A relationship that has ended or is broken and is in need of healing. Or maybe we are just looking to establish a new relationship with someone. For some it might be an addiction…pornography, drugs, alcohol. Or maybe we are addicted to our work, money, success and can’t find time for family or friends or God. For some it might be a feeling that God is calling us to do something new or different with our lives…and we just can’t figure out what that is.
Applying the story of Peter's step-of-faith to contemporary discipleship, Jesus invites us to walk to him on the risky waters of life and to consider the incredible potential that awaits those who fearlessly trust in God. During this six-week, Scripture-based program, participants will discover the skills of "water-walking"--how to discern God's call, face fear, risk faith, manage failure, and trust God. This program will show us how to answer God's call to greater faith, power-filled deeds, and a new way of letting him revive our dormant gifts and dreams. To experience the power of God in our lives to do something we would not be capable of doing on our own.
